# CNS417 - Elvis Presley "Tickle Me" US Half Dollar Commemorative Coin
Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Not only was he a singing sensation, he was also a movie star! This coin highlights one of hit films Elvis starred in.
Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives along with an image of his signature. The coin is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Tickle Me
Tickle Me was more than just a great film – it also saved the struggling Allied Artists studio. When approached, Elvis agreed to slash his normal $1 million salary by 25 percent. To save more money, studio executives decided to use old recordings rather than a new soundtrack. In spite of the cost-cutting, Tickle Me grossed more than $3 million – doubling the $1.48 million budget that had been spent to produce it.
Several talented people worked on Tickle Me. Norman Taurog directed a total of nine Elvis movies, or nearly one third of the groundbreaking films. The script was written by Edward Bernds and Elwood Ullman, Academy Award nominees for the 1957 film High Society. Julie Adams, the beauty who starred as Vera Radford, is best known for her role in the science fiction classic The Creature From the Black Lagoon. Although some critics panned the film, Elvis was awarded with a Golden Laurel Award by the prestigious Producer’s Guild of America for his performance in Tickle Me.
