Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.  Not only was he a singing sensation, he was also a movie star!  This coin highlights one of hit films Elvis starred in.
Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar.  The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives along with an image of his signature. The coin is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Love Me Tender

Elvis was enjoying his meteoric rise to fame when filming began on “Love Me Tender.”  Perhaps that’s why it’s the only movie in which Elvis didn’t enjoy top billing.  However, few people today could name even one other actor or actress in the Western film.  Elvis earned a salary of $100,000 – equal to nearly $1,000,000 today.  Just 21 years old, Elvis’ appeal was so strong that the very name of the film was changed from “The Reno Brothers” to “Love Me Tender” so that the hit song would attract viewers.

“Love Me Tender” premiered at the Paramount Theater in New York City.  The single “Love Me Tender” shattered existing records when it became the first song in history to achieve advance sales of over 1 million copies.  And in Germany, a young listener named Priscilla fell in love with Elvis to the tune.
