Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.  He is credited with 54 certified gold singles – more than any other recording artist ever!  This coin highlights one of those songs that sold at least 500,000 copies.

Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar.  The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Until It’s Time for You to Go

This coin honor’s Elvis’ hit “Until It’s Time for You to Go.”  He recorded it in the spring of 1971 at RCA’s Nashville studio.  Released in January 1972, the song placed on three different charts in the US.  It reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for nine weeks.  It also reached number 68 on the Country chart (lasting two weeks) and hit number nine on the Easy-Listening chart, where it stayed for seven weeks.

Buffy Sainte-Marie wrote “Until It’s Time for You to Go” in 1965.  The song, about a couple from different worlds that couldn’t stay together, was based on her own life.  Sainte-Marie was born on a Cree Indian Reservation in Canada.  She had success in a variety of musical styles and genres, though she was best known for her protest songs.  She went on to win an Academy Ward for “Up Where We Belong” and was a guest on Sesame Street several times over the course of five years.  She took the opportunity to teach children that “Indians still exist.”
