Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Tell Me Why
Elvis recorded “Tell Me Why” on January 12,1957, at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, California. However, it wasn’t put on a record at the time, and it was shelved for several years. It was finally released on December 3, 1965 with “Blue River” on the B-side. “Tell Me Why” reached number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, which was a record low for one of his A-singles up to that time.
Titus Turner wrote “Tell Me Why” in 1956. The same year, Marie Knight was the first to record the song and make it a hit in New Orleans and Texas. Gale Storm and The Crew Cuts later had success with the song as well.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Turner made his debut in 1950 with “Where Are You.” His most famous recordings included “We Told You Not to Marry” and “Sound-Off.” His song “Leave My Kitten Alone” was made famous through recordings by the Beatles and Elvis Costello.
