Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. He is credited with 54 certified gold singles – more than any other recording artist ever! This coin highlights one of those songs that sold at least 500,000 copies.
Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Treat Me Nice
Elvis recorded “Treat Me Nice” in 1957 for his third movie, Jailhouse Rock. In the movie, Elvis played Vince Everett, who was sent to prison for manslaughter because of a bar brawl. Vince [Elvis] is taught to sing by prison cellmate and former country singer Hunk Houghton – played by Mickey Shaughnessy. After being released from prison, Vince finds he has become famous.
Hunk wants a share of the wealth and a fight follows in which Vince’s vocal chords are damaged. During the filming, Elvis swallowed a tooth cap, and was in danger of damaging his voice. The movie was named to the American Film Institutes “100 Years of 100 Films” list of outstanding movies.
“Treat Me Nice” spent ten weeks on the Billboard Top 100 List and sold over one million copies.
