Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.  He is credited with 54 certified gold singles – more than any other recording artist ever!  This coin highlights one of those songs that sold at least 500,000 copies.

Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar.  The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

I’ve Got a Thing About You Baby

“I’ve Got a Thing About You Baby” was written by Tony Joe White.  The colorful singer and songwriter – labeled the “Swamp Fox” in honor of his roots in the bayous of Louisiana – also wrote “Polk Salad Annie” and “Rainy Night in Georgia.”

Elvis recorded “I’ve Got a Thing About You Baby” on July 22, 1973.  Released with “Take Good Care of Her” on the flip side, the single peaked at number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, number four on the Country chart, and number 27 on the Easy Listening chart.

The song was also featured on Elvis’ 1974 Good Times album.  The album was mostly made up of songs Elvis recorded at Memphis’ Stax Studios in December 1973, but “I’ve Got a Thing About You Baby” and “Take Good Care of Her” were left over from July recordings there.  The songs on the album touch on a variety of styles and genres including rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and country rock.  The album’s title was taken from the song “Talk About the Good Times.”  Other songs on the album were covers of recent hits, including “Spanish Eyes” and “She Wears My Ring.”  The album did well – reaching number one on the Cashbox magazine chart and appearing in the top 50 in the United Kingdom.
