Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.  He is credited with 54 certified gold singles – more than any other recording artist ever!  This coin highlights one of those songs that sold at least 500,000 copies.

Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar.  The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Bossa Nova Baby

Elvis recorded “Bossa Nova Baby” for the Fun in Acapulco soundtrack on Tuesday, January 22, 1963. It was the beginning of an astonishing year for him. Within a matter of weeks, RCA Records announced that Elvis had sold more than 100 million records.

Written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, “Bossa Nova Baby” was first released in 1962 by Tippy and the Clovers. Elvis’ version – with “Witchcraft” on the flip side – spent 10 weeks on the charts and peaked at #8.

In 1963, the Elvis Christmas Album sold more than 800,000 copies, and American Bandstand named him the Best Male Singer for the eighth year in a row. His movies, Girls! Girls! Girls!, It Happened At the World’s Fair, Fun In Acapulco, Kissin’ Cousins, Viva Las Vegas, and Roustabout were all box office hits. “Surrender” and “Good Luck Charm” reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and 10 other singles – including “Bossa Nova Baby” – reached Billboard’s Top 10 chart. The song also reached number 20 on the R & B charts.
