During that time, Presley carved out some time to go to a recording studio in Nashville. “I Need Your Love Tonight” was one of the songs recorded at the time. It reached number four on the Billboard pop singles chart in 1959.
One of the writers of this popular song was Sid Wayne. He was the creative talent behind many songs in Elvis’ movies. Wayne grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and had no formal music training. After moving to Hollywood, he began writing songs for Elvis. Wayne’s songs can be heard in “G.I. Blues,” “It Happened at the World’s Fair,” “Clambake,” and many more films. Wayne was later nominated for a Grammy for the lyrics to the Perry Como hit “It’s Impossible.”
