Elvis Presley grew up signing gospel songs in the churches of his childhood.  The meaning and melodies of those tunes stayed with him even after he became a Rock ‘n’ Roll star.  In 1967, Presley recorded an album of gospel songs titled, How Great Thou Art.  He was awarded his first Grammy Award in the category Best Sacred Performance.  In 1975, Elvis received another Grammy for a concert recording of the song, “How Great Thou Art.”  Throughout his career, Presley recorded additional gospel songs, as well as Christmas albums.  For his contribution to Gospel Music, Elvis was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
