Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Elvis Buys Personal Jet
This coin honors one of Elvis’ personal jets – the Lisa Marie. Elvis bought the Convair 880 jet that had recently been retired from service by Delta Airlines for $250,000. He then spent another $350,000 refurbishing it.
The Lisa Marie had a seating area, conference room, penthouse bedroom, in-flight library, and an executive bathroom. Elvis was extremely involved in the design – picking fabrics and color schemes and selecting the gold fixtures for the bathroom.
While the plane was being fixed up, Elvis frequently flew in friends to show them its progress. When it was finished, Elvis made his first trip aboard the Lisa Marie on November 27, 1975, traveling to Las Vegas.
After Elvis’ death, his father sold the Lisa Marie in 1978, and it changed hands a few times. In 1984, Elvis’ estate struck a deal with the current owner to return it to Graceland, where it’s one of the most popular attractions.
