# CNS1006 - Elvis Presley "Buys His First Pink Cadillac" US Half Dollar Commemorative Coin
Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. As a real Elvis fan, you love capturing your favorite historic moments from the life of the original American idol. This coin preserves one of your favorite Elvis memories
Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives and is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Elvis Buys His First Pink Cadillac
The coin honors Elvis’ first pink Cadillac – a 1954 model sprayed pink – which he bought in early 1955. He didn’t get to enjoy the car long however, as the brake lining failed and it was destroyed in a roadside fire on June 5, 1955.
One month later, Elvis bought a blue Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 with a black roof. Elvis’ neighbor Art created a special pink shade he named, “Elvis Rose” to paint over the blue. Elvis gave the car to his mother once it was done, but she didn’t have a license, so he and his band drove it. Scotty Moore later crashed the car, but Elvis was able to have it repaired. After returning from his military service in Germany, Elvis gave the car to his Army buddy Joe Esposito after buying himself a white 1961 Cadillac Coupe de Ville with a pink roof.
