# CNM11488 - Civil Air Patrol 1.5" Bronze Medal
Bronze Medal Honors WWII Civil Air Patrol
Authorized by Congress and produced by the US Mint, this bronze medal is scarce and collectable. Struck with great detail, it commemorates one of the heroic groups that played a vital role during World War II, leading to Allied victory.
Unpaid volunteers formed the Civil Air Patrol, using privately owned aircraft and their own funds to support the military. Over the course of the war, they flew a variety of missions including anti-submarine patrol and warfare, border patrol, and delivery services.
