This set includes three proof coins issued in 2016, the final set in the Presidential $1 Dollar Program.  US Presidents were honored on golden dollar coins, in the order of their presidencies.

The Presidential dollar coins program began in 2007, with the goal of honoring every eligible President (To be eligible, a President had to have died at least two years before the coin was minted.)  In every previous year of the program, four Presidents were honored.  This set contains the last three eligible former Presidents.  Each coin has the name and an image of the President, as well as the years of service.

This proof coin set was produced by the US mint in San Francisco using a process that brings out the beauty of each coin’s design.  The dies and planchets (the metal disks that will become coins) are polished before the coin is struck.  This gives the fields (blank areas) a mirrored look and the image a frosted effect.  Proof coins are struck twice, giving the coin a sharper design and rims.  The proof sets are packaged at the mint and display America’s coins at their best.  Each set is only produced for one year, so the supply is limited.

Gerald Ford
Ronald Reagan
