# CN2006P - 2006 United States Mint Proof Set, San Francisco Mint Mark
Get the 2006 Proof Set –
Including Forward Facing Jefferson Nickel
This set includes a Jefferson nickel with the Founding Father facing forward. This is the first time in US history that this was used rather than a profile. The obverse (tails) image pictures Jefferson’s home, Monticello. It returned after two years of the Westward Journey nickel series.
This Proof set also includes a Sacagawea Dollar, five quarters from the 50 State Quarters program and the three other denominations produced in 2006. All the proof coins were manufactured at the San Francisco Mint. The small “S” mintmark can be found on each coin.
Proof coin sets are produced by the US mint in San Francisco using a process that brings out the beauty of each coin’s design. The dies and planchets (the metal disks that will become coins) are polished before the coin is struck. This gives the fields (blank areas) a mirrored look and the image a frosted effect. Proof coins are struck twice, giving the coin a sharper design and rims. The proof sets are packaged at the mint and display America’s coins at their best. Each set is only produced for one year, so the supply is limited.
This set contains these Proof coins:
1 Sacagawea Dollar
1 Kennedy Half Dollar
5 Washington Quarters (honoring the states of Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota)
1 Roosevelt Dime
1 Jefferson Nickel
1 Lincoln Cent
The 2006 Proof Set deserves a home equal to the coins’ beauty. The strong plastic display cases are just that home. The coins are arranged on patriotic blue backgrounds and sealed in attractive cases to keep dust, fingerprints, and moisture from dulling the brilliant finish of these Proof coins. A Certificate of Authenticity is also included.
Year Issued: 2006
Face Value: $2.91
Mintage: 2,000,428
Now is the perfect time to add this 2006 Proof Set to your collection. This set has been preserved for years and still highlights the beauty of America’s coins. Order yours today.
