HagÃ¥tña Bay is the capital of Guam, a U.S. territory located on the islandâs western shore. The town is home to the islandâs first church, Dulce Nombre de Maria, built by Guamâs first Spanish missionary, Padre San Vitores, in 1668. HagÃ¥tña boasts a number of tall office buildings, with the center of town made up of shops and small restaurants. Each year the annual Liberation Day Parade is celebrated on July 21st. It is one of the largest holidays in Guam and takes place on HagÃ¥tñaâs Marine Drive.

These stamps are part of the Airmail series. Airmail as its own separate service came to an end in 1977. After that time, airmail stamps were issued to pay international rates. After 1995, the USPS called these âinternational-rate stamps,â though they still said âAirmailâ on them.
