Special Event Cover Recalls Significant U.S. History...
25th Anniversary of America’s First-Ever Satellite Launch

This neat Special Event Cover commemorates the 25th anniversary of America’s first-ever satellite launch – a huge space accomplishment for the United States.  On January 31, 1958, satellite Explorer I launched into space from Cape Canaveral (now Kennedy Space Center).

On the 25th anniversary of the epic launch, this cover was postmarked with an illustrated cancel at Cape Canaveral.  Appropriately, the 1971 Space Achievement stamp (US #1434) is attached.  The 1981 Statue of Liberty stamp (US #1594) is also attached, resembling American pride.
