 50Th Anniversary of NATO Commemorated on Cover

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established in the aftermath of World War II.  The collective security alliance marked its 50th anniversary with a summit held in Washington, DC, April 23-25, 1999.  This cover commemorates that summit and pays tribute to the organization.  The cover includes a NATO stamp (US #1008) issued on the third anniversary of the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty.  This is a neat way to commemorate a half-century of NATO.
