# AC239 - 06/06/1997, USA, World Philatelic Exhibition Youth Day
Cover Marks Youth Day at Pacific 97
The ninth International Philatelic Exhibition held in the US took place May 29-June 8, 1997. Called Pacific 97, it was the first expo held on the West Coast. This cover was postmarked June 6, Youth Day.
Sixty days before the opening of the show, the US Postal Service issued two stamps promoting the event. They were America’s first triangular-shaped stamps. The one on this cover pictures a US mail stagecoach, the other stamp shows a mid-19th century clipper ship. Both of these were associated with mail delivery.
