# AC235 - 06/02/1997, USA, World Philatelic Exhibition San Francisco/Golden Gate Bridge Day
Cover Marks San Francisco/Golden Gate Bridge Day at Pacific 97
The ninth International Philatelic Exhibition held in the US took place May 29-June 8, 1997. Called Pacific 97, it was the first expo held on the West Coast. This cover was issued on June 2, San Francisco/Golden Gate Bridge Day.
Sixty days before the opening of the show, the US Postal Service issued two stamps promoting the event. They were America’s first triangular-shaped stamps. The one on this cover pictures a US mail stagecoach, the other stamp shows a mid-19th century clipper ship. Both of these were associated with mail delivery.
