Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Lucayan Archipelago (island chain) of the Atlantic Ocean and northern West Indies.  The Turks and Caicos Islands are to the southeast of Mayaguana of the Bahamas island chain, northeast of Cuba, and north of Hispaniola.

The first postage stamp issued by the Turks Islands was issued April 4, 1867 and was the one penny red.  Several decades later, the first stamp of Turks and Caicos Islands was issued on November 10, 1900.  The islands became a Crown Colony in 1962, with the first stamps of the new designation issued June 4, 1962.
