Rare 1960 Boat Stamps –

We're going to let you in on a secret: these stamps are very scarce – many collectors aren't aware of them or don't know what they are. In fact, you're very unlikely to find album pages for them... until now!
After April 1, 1960, boats with 10-horsepower engines or bigger had to be registered. This was done by buying a $3 two-part stamp at the Post Office. The picture portion was applied to a temporary registration. The Post Office sent the lower portion to the Coast Guard, which issued a permanent card good for three years. The $1 stamp covered reissue of a lost or destroyed permanent card.
