Do You Have All the 1979-80 Commemorative Airmail Stamps?


Fill the gaps in your collection with this set of four mint 1979-80 Airmail commemorative stamps.  Included is the 31¢ Olympic Games stamp, commemorating the 22nd Olympic Games, held in Moscow in 1980.


Set also includes 40¢ Philip Mazzei stamp, honoring the Italian-American patriot who promoted American independence through his writings published in America and Europe during the 18th century.  He settled in America, befriended Thomas Jefferson, and contributed to the commerce of the colonies.


Other honorees include Blanche Stuart Scott – the first American woman to fly solo.  After her early flights, she joined a group of pilots on the daredevil circuit and earned the title “The Tomboy of the Air.”  She eventually became a special consultant for the United States Air Force.


You’ll also get the 35¢ Glenn Curtiss stamp honoring this early aviator and noted aircraft designer.  He is best remembered for his design and production of the first successful seaplanes and amphibian airplanes, as well as various military planes.  He also designed the Curtiss Jenny, pictured on #C1-3.
