Special design details: The selvage of the pane of 20 includes a painting of trees along a bank with a body of water and a canoe with a man holding an oar.

First Day City: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the First Day of Issue Ceremony was held virtually on the USPS’s Facebook and Twitter pages. The First Day of Issue Postmark was from Incline Valley, Nevada, located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe and known for its ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

About the Enjoy the Great Outdoors set: Issued to celebrate America’s natural beauty and the many ways we can get out and enjoy it. Five stamps picturing different hand-sketched and painted designs by artist Gregory Manchess. They picture building a sandcastle, hiking, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and biking.

History the stamp represents: Most outdoor activities are performed to relax and get some exercise. However, some require a bit more skill and are designed with thrill seekers in mind. Mountain biking is one such activity.

Mountain biking can range from cross-country, trail-riding, all-mountain, downhill, freeride, and dirt-jumping styles. Whichever style riders choose, each demands a high level of physical fitness and bike-handling skills. Often times, mountain bikers ride in remote areas. So, it is also important for them to know how to repair their bikes and treat many different injuries.

Since mountain biking has become more popular in recent years, many tourist destinations have added attractions for riders. For example, a number of ski resorts now have cleared special trails for bikers to ride down the mountain. These trails may have jumps, sharp turns, steep descents, heavily wooded sections, and more. Some ski resorts even have mountain bikes available for rental and trails for people trying the sport for the first time. Best of all, the ski lifts can be used to easily transport both riders and their mountain bikes up the slopes.

If you’re looking for an exciting new outdoor activity, mountain biking might be just the thing!
