About the Sesame Street set:  In 2019, Sesame Street – everyone’s favorite educational and playful children’s television show – celebrated its 50th anniversary.  To commemorate the occasion, the USPS issued 16 new Forever stamps picturing different characters from the show:  Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Rosita, The Count, Oscar the Grouch, Abby Cadabby, Herry Monster, Julia, Guy Smiley, Snuffleupagus, Elmo, Telly, Grover, and Zoe.  The back of the pane of 16 pictures the official Sesame Street 50th anniversary artwork.

History the stamp represents:  Cookie Monster is a cuddly blue monster who has an uncontrollable appetite for cookies.  He has also been known to eat anything from plates and telephones to the Letter of the Day and the set of Sesame Street.

Cookie Monster’s unique speech is relatable to children who are still discovering new aspects of language.  His huge appetite has made him the perfect character to model healthy habits as he continues to learn about cooking and eating healthy foods.  Cookie Monster has explained that cookies are a “sometimes food” and that it’s important to eat fruits and vegetables, too.

Despite his struggle to control his impulses and delay gratification, Cookie Monster will always share his snacks with his friends like Elmo and Abby.  Along with his new pal Gonger, he teaches children all about their favorite foods in his “Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck” segment on Sesame Street.
