The prairie crab apple tree (Malus ioensis) is a flowering tree native to the southern United States.  It's found mainly in the prairie of the upper Mississippi Valley, but one subspecies is also found in central Texas.  These beautiful trees can grow to 35 feet tall and bear beautiful white or pink blossoms in the summer.  These blooms ripen into small berries in the fall.
