The works of anonymous Victorian commercial artists were the inspiration for the 1995 Contemporary Christmas stamps. Each of the four designs incorporates portions of century-old paper artifacts such as postcards and writing tablets to recall the magical childhood Christmases of yesterday. The same antique image collection and technique were used for the 1994 52¢ Love stamp as well as the 1995 Midnight Angel and Children Sledding stamps.
