2016 Fort Moultrie-Fort Sumter National Monument Quarter, D Mint

Fort Moultrie's history goes back before the beginning of the United States. Located on Sullivan's Island off the coast of South Carolina, it was named for the commander, William Moultrie. Today, Fort Moultrie is a National Monument. Visitors travel back in time as they tour the grounds.  They can witness the part the landmark played in the country's history from World War II all the way back to the Revolutionary War.
