First Day City: The First Day of Issue Ceremony was held in Cleveland, Ohio, at The Great American Stamp Show.
About the Thinking of You set: Each design pictures delightful images of flowers, balloons, adorable animals, tasty desserts, symbols of good luck, and more. Each stamp includes digital illustrations with a bright, cheery color palette. They were issued especially for use on feel-good letters and cards mailed to friends and loved ones.
History the stamp represents: Everyone make smistkaes, but eating a dish of humble pie is no easy task. Fortunately, there are a few different ways to make amends.
Gary Chapman, PhD, author of The Five Love Languages, co-authored a book with Jennifer Thomas, PhD, called The Five Apology Languages. In the book, they offer various approaches to apologize and help people identify which apology language they prefer.
The first apology language is expressing regret. This can help to validate the offended person’s emotions. Second, accepting responsibility, which means no excuses. Third, making restitution, is finding a way to make things right. The fourth apology language is genuinely repenting. This one is all about action. It’s making a plan to change or do better. The last one is requesting forgiveness. This places power back to the victim to extend forgiveness.
If saying sorry in person seems too hard or isn’t possible, another option is sending an apology card. Blogger Marsha Vayrada recounts, on the Thinking of You Week website, how she wrote an apology card to an ex-employee nearly 20 years after treating them poorly. Her apology was accepted with forgiveness, which shows it may never be too late to say “I’m sorry.”
