History the stamp represents: Linus Van Pelt is the smartest kid on the block (though he would never admit it). He is surprisingly well-adjusted for being Lucy’s little brother, and he is the voice of reason and insight around the neighborhood. He is Charlie Brown’s best friend and his second baseman. Every Halloween night, he can be found waiting for the Great Pumpkin and keeping warm with his blanket.
Linus has a keen desire to try and understand the world around him. From the most mundane thoughts like, “why does one thumb taste different from another?” to more profound musings like, “why do teachers have to get married?”
Linus has a good grasp of scripture and will occasionally trot out a parable when needed. He is never preachy – unless, of course, he’s talking about the Great Pumpkin. As the middle child, he finds the middle path in his relationships. His reactions to most situations and problems is to be mild-mannered.
There are only a few times when Linus’s emotions get the better of him and they usually involve girls. It may be fuming at Sally for calling him her “Sweet Babboo,” or flustered by Lydia who always keeps him guessing. But at the end of the day, with his blanket in hand and the sympathy of his friends, he cannot fail.
