History the stamp represents: Sally is Charlie Brown’s little sister and believes the world owes her an explanation. Why is her big brother such a loser? Why does she have to go to school? Why doesn’t Linus, her “Sweet Babboo,” love her? And what’s the capital of Venezuela?
Sally wants what’s owed to her. She’s too young to know exactly what that might be, but whatever it is, she’s pretty sure she’s getting cheated. Unlike Lucy, Sally’s aggressiveness is not to correct every flaw, but to understand the world.
Linus is Sally’s “Sweet Babboo” and unrequited love. For Sally, love is something to achieve, like collecting a rare baseball card. She finds Linus’s depth and sensitivity fascinating because it’s so alien to her. She looks up to her big brother, but because his friends don’t always respect him, she’s suspicious of his advice. Sally also looks forward to the day when Charlie Brown moves out so she can have his room.
Two years younger than Charlie Brown, Sally was nervous about her first day of kindergarten. She was anxious about it for weeks, but when she finally went, she loved it and said all children should go to kindergarten whether they want to or not.
Sally is always on the hunt for answers and when she doesn’t get them, she circles back to her original philosophy: “Who cares?”
