History the stamp represents:  When asked what their favorite flower is, many women say lilies.  Perhaps it is because this flower comes in so many different varieties and colors.  Or maybe it’s because of their pleasing shape.  Today, some of the most popular varieties are known as Asiatic lilies.

Asiatic lilies are a hybrid flower between species in the Sinomartagon section of the genus Lilium.  They are some of the easiest lilies to grow and bloom earlier than many other varieties.  Most can be seen flowering in early to mid-summer.  Flowers range from the lightest shades of pink and yellow to bright red and vibrant orange.  Plants are usually two to five feet tall with four to six-inch-wide blossoms.  They are known for producing many flowers on a single plant.

When planting Asiatic lilies in your own garden, remember they prefer full or partial sun.  You can choose to plant them in the ground or in pots placed on your patio or deck.  As for soil, Asiatic lilies will grow in just about anything as long as it is well fertilized and has good drainage.  The plants also prefer regular watering and do not like to be in dry soil.

Whether you like bright colors or more subtle hues, there are plenty of Asiatic lilies to choose from.  Whichever ones you plant, your garden will become even more impressive with these flowers included.
