# 5301 - 2018 First-Class Forever Stamp - The Art of Magic: Rabbit in the Hat
U.S. #5301
2018 50¢ The Art of Magic – Rabbit in Hat (Production)
When most people think of magic, pulling a rabbit out of a hat typically comes to mind. This trick has been around for close to 200 years and is considered a classic magic act. In fact, the black top hat and white rabbit are now seen as symbols of magic as a whole.
Pulling a rabbit out of a hat can be accomplished in several different ways, some more convincing than others. One of the more challenging ways to complete the trick is also one of the most effective. The magician places the rabbit inside a makeshift sack with the sides lightly attached at the top. This bag is hung on a hook on the backside of a table the magician stands behind. The table is then covered with a sheet the same color as the rabbit bag.
The magician begins the trick by showing the audience the top hat is empty. He then places it, open side down, on the table. As fast as possible, the magician takes the bag with the rabbit off the hook, lifts the top hat off the table (flipping the hat over), and slips the bag inside. The top hat is now open side up on the table. To distract the audience before the big reveal, the magician may gesture around the table to prove there is nothing hidden. Finally, the magician reaches into the hat and pulls the rabbit out. It is a trick that always delights the audience.
