On Christmas Eve, children around the world hope to hear reindeer hooves clatter on the roof and catch a glimpse of a fur-trimmed red suit.

Santa Claus is the highlight of the holiday season for many boys and girls. Letters were sent to the North Pole weeks earlier, asking for presents under the Christmas tree. Now it is almost time to learn if Santa believes they have been naughty or nice.

As night falls, signaling the beginning of Santa’s annual journey, sleep seems impossible to the youngsters. But they soon awake to the winter sun peeking through bedroom windows and race to see what’s under the Christmas tree.

Some say Santa’s task is impossible. Even with different time zones, one man could never visit every home in a single night or carry all the toys for millions of children in one small sleigh. No one as round as Santa can slip down a chimney.

Or can he? For it is Christmas Eve, and logic has been replaced by the spell of the season. Regardless of age, all it takes is childlike belief in the magic of Christmas to know those brightly wrapped gifts under the tree came from none other than Santa Claus.
