This coil design paid the presorted first-class rate. The design features a detail of the Great Seal of the United States and was offered in ten two-color combinations.  Previously issued in 2003 as a self-adhesive coil, the ten American Eagle coil designs reappeared in 2004 with water-activated gum.

The Eagle stamps picture the emblem in different colors against a variety of background colors. In 1782, Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, chose the American bald eagle to be the emblem of our country on the national seal.
