A bust of George Washington, created by sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1785, appears on two maroon 20¢ postcard-rate stamps and on the green 23¢ stamps issued after the rate was increased in July. The George Washington bust is exhibited at Mount Vernon, the Virginia home of the first President of the United States.
