This First Day Cover features the Wetlands Nonprofit rate stamp and the Diner First-class presort rate stamp, both issued on June 5, 1998.
This 5¢ non-profit rate, non-denominated coil stamp was issued to bring attention to the depletion of America’s wetlands and the important part they play in nature. An important habitat for several species of wildlife, wetlands also help control flooding by absorbing large amounts of water.
This 25¢ definitive coil stamp was issued to pay postage for the first-class, presorted letter rate. Bulk mailers could use it for various rates, and simply add on the difference at the time of mailing. The Diner stamp was the third in the “American Culture” series and pictures a typical diner with its red sign and silhouettes of customers in the windows.
