This image is from “The Lovely Reader,” by famed Swiss painter Jean Etienne Liotard. The stamp is part of the “Famous Works of Art” series, issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. The eight stamps feature the theme of writing and reading letters. The design of each stamp was taken from paintings done by international artists.
