About the Hot Wheels set: The USPS issued 10 stamp designs celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of America’s best known and best loved toy brands – Hot Wheels. Each stamp pictures a different well-known Hot Wheels car zooming down the company’s iconic bright orange race track. The cars shown on the stamps are: Purple Passion, Rocket-Bye-Baby, Rigor Motor, Rodger Dodger, Mach Speeder, Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, HW40, Deora II, and Sharkruiser.
History the stamp represents: In 2018, Hot Wheels celebrated 50 years as one of the world’s most popular toy car brands. To mark that milestone, they released a fleet of special anniversary cars. Some were re-releases of past favorites, and some entirely new. The sleek Mach Speeder was one of the new additions.
Part of the Legends of Speed series, the Mach Speeder was an imaginative take on a modern race car. According to the car’s official description, “Built for endurance with massive front air intakes that resembles a wide-mouth predator fish, this mid-engine machine is one holy mach-erel! Powered by a twin turbo V6 hybrid engine driving the rear wheels, and electric motors driving the front wheels, the Mach Speeder makes a mockery of the competition!”
The Mach Speeder was designed by Dmitriy Shakhmatov and quickly became popular among collectors for its sharp details. It took some inspiration from modern race car trends, but added a futuristic style, giving fans a glance into what race cars could look like some day.
Cruising along the bright orange Hot Wheels track, the Mach Speeder brings a sense of joy and wonder to children. And for adult collectors, it gives them a vision of the excitement of race car driving.
